The "0.02" is a more or less arbitrary number that the program uses in calculation. It's a variable in a little equation that relates development increase (flare compensation) to SBR. It doesn't have any direct equivalent in "N-numbers" but varying the number by as little as 0.001 will have some minor affect. The 0.02 default value increases negative contrast (for a normal 7-stop subject range) by about 1/2 paper grade.
