You can certainy do your paper tests with the 2-color settings. The question is whether they provide any significant advantage. Nominally, papers are speed-rated for a density of 0.6 and it that's the value that you use in judging print exposure, then the 2-color method may be worthwhile. On the other hand, if you judge print exposure by a general gut reaction, or by looking most carefully at highlight or shadow tones, then the 2-color method will not provide useful exposure suggestions.
But either method wlll work. We recommend the single filter method because it's universally useful for contrast control and we don't find the paper speed ratings to be particularly helpful. |
