FWIW -

The scratching of negs from tubes was pretty rare. Once in a great while, a defect can show up on the mold and make a pitted or raised area that will scratch. As you noted, this isn't something that just "happens". Are they arced scratches or straight? Do they match the movement of the film as you pull them from the tubes? Years ago, the first tubes were buffed using 0000 steel wool to be sure the edge of the threads weren't a problem. The new molds pretty much solved that issue.
