streaks come in all sorts of flavors. Sometimes you may get streaks if you roll the tubes in a tempering bath and there is a tiny water leak that will cause streaking. That happened to me once and I simply skipped the tempering bath and solved the problem completely and no more streaks. In fact I have seen the most even processed negs using the tubes and a fairly wide selection of developers and dilutions. i don't spend much time shaking the tubes either. I simply lift them, one...two... and drop them into the large tray of water and peacefully start rolling. The tubes need to be kept in motion but " you don't I to be frantic about it". Make sure those caps are on tight and also allow the tubes to "bob and swirl" a bit so that they are not just spinning in one plane. Lastly, take note of how the film rest in the tube once they are inserted to be sure the are fairly straight and not twisted or spiraled in the tube. With fresh chemistry and a few precautions its going to be hard to make a streak . |
