In a recent article in the April 2003 D-Max Newsletter, "ISO and EFS," Phil discusses the importance of calabrating the test exposures so that they fall on or very close to 2.4 on the x-axis. Phil notes that the Mac Plotter Plus has the option of substituting personal reference values for use in EFS calculations. He also notes that "The current version (1.1.0.7) of the WinPlotter doesn't provide any way to include a reference number in the speed calculations, but this feature will be included in the next revision. Until then its EFS charts may or may not provide reliable speed information."
I am wondering whether substituting an adjusted ISO value (the film rated ISO speed plus or minus the EV adjustment needed to obtain a 2.4 speed point on the x-axis) for the rated film ISO value, would give me reliable speed information for various development times. |
