1. Yes, that's correct. Expo/Dev does all the necessary calculations but it doesn't use N-numbers. The appropriate development is indicated by an average gradient (G-bar) number and the actual development time is shown in the Notes section. 2. Yes, if your specified EV input and zone choices will exceed the capabilities of the chosen materials, Expo/Dev will not proceed with the calculation in most cases; in a few special cases, involving extensive reciprocity compensation, the program may not recognize an "overflow" until all the calculations are finished. At that point it will indicate a problem by refusing to provide a development time. 3 & 4. These two questions should be directed to Fred or Dennis at the View Camera Store .
