Phil... Thanks for the quick follow-up. Your reply certainly makes sense… keeping measurements within the framework of BTZS is all that is necessary to make it all come together. My current goal is to validate the reflective density readings of my spot meter densitometer. My concern is the seemingly low density value I’m assigning the maximum black of the paper. I’m getting a 6 stop difference between the Base White of the paper and the Maximum Black of the paper. The calculate Max Black density value would be 1.80 (plus b+f) This seems low to me. The Paper is Ilford MultiGrade FB Glossy developed for 2 min in Dextol 1+1.
Does this Max Black density sound reasonable or should I take a harder look at my densitometer and/or developing methods.
