I just got the book and Plotter software and am ready to start my BTZS advwenture! However, as a commercial and editorial photographer, I need to deliver images digitally. Therefore, I plan on scanning my negs and delivering PhotoShop files as final output.
My question is, how can I determine the calibration values for my scanner that are analagous to the paper contrast grades and other values? I have a densitometer (both reflective and transparent), as well as a 21-step and 31-step wedge so will be fully plotting my film densities but I am not sure what data to enter for the ES numbers or even how to determine it.
So, is there a way to scan the step wedges and use that to determine ES?
Also, is there any benefit in using the 31-step wedge in my film testing (creating annew plot as mentioned on another message here from Phil) or is the 21-step wedge close enough?
Finally, any other tips on adjusting the system to a scanning workflow?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
