Sadly, your information is correct; stain images can't be read reliably enough to be used for BTZS data calculation simply because the densitometer doesn't react to the color in the same way or to the same extent that printing papers do. With some careful trial and error experimentation you may be able to establish a workable conversion factor that can make the readings useful under specific conditions, but because the pyro stain color can vary in printing effectiveness on different films, at different dilutions, at different development times — and with different papers — it's inherently not very controllable. |
