I don't know, if you read down on this forum to "To the Newbies out there" maybe Mr. Davis isn't looking to be popular with the masses. My experience is that I attended the Ansel Adams Workshop in the late 80's and considered myself a zonie for several years before that. A friend decided that he wanted to learn about this zone stuff so he bought BTZS (2nd edition). Well, he never read it and ended up giving it to me. I thumbed through it and thought to myself, the zone system is so easy and this looks hard. I couple of years later I was fortunate enough to have the flu and missed a weeks work. I decided that I was going to read that damned book duting my week off. By the 3rd day things were starting to make sense and by the 5th day I was talking to Fred Newman on the phone ordering the Plotter program and the Casio computer. Today, almost 10 years later I would not think of not using the BTZS approach to exposure and development. I have just upgraded to the Windows Plotter and Palm ExpoDev program and I must they are very nice programs. So, to answer your question about how to get more photographers interested in BTZS, to me it seems obvious "BTZS for Dummies". |
