I'm on my second reading of BTZS/4th Ed. and I'm still completely lost in understanding parts of Figures 4-16 and 4-17 (page 53). I asked about them on rec.photo.darkroom but did not receive a satisfactory answer.
Every component in these figures -- except development times -- is explained fully in the text. What I do not understand is how the numbers in black rectangles on each film curve in 4-16 and the additional times (3:00 - 15:00) in 4-17 were determined.
Without understanding the origin of these numbers I will not be able to plot SBR Stops as a function of development times.
FWIW, after reading the complete book the first time I bought an X-Rite model 810 densitometer on eBay and a couple of step tablets from Stouffer. Now I want to put this all together and test my films and papers.
Thanks,
