The dilutions quoted here for HC-110 are f rom the "stock" solution (1+3 from the concentrate) so the real dilution for HC-110F, which we refer to as 1+19, is really 1+79 from the concentrate. If you're now using 1+43 from the concentrate you should have no trouble at all in using it in the tubes. On the other hand, if that's from the stock (1+175 from the concentrate) it's probably not appropriate for tube use.
Doubling the developer volume, either by using a longer cap or by using the 5x7 tubes for 4x5 film, should be OK. I wonder, though, whether there's any advantage in using such a high dilution. Are you satisfied that you're getting uniquely fine results with the 1+43 solution? Is is not possible that the 1+79 (HC-110F dilution) might give equally good results? |
