You're right, it can get confusing but it's really simple when you think about it.
If you're using either the Expo/Dev or the PowerDial, always set your incident meter on 100, regardless of the ISO value of the film. That's necessary to provide the right EV numbers for the programs to work with. Both devices expect these "standard" EV (ISO100) numbers and they'll give you faulty working information if you don't do this.
Then if you're using the PowerDial, set the film's rated ISO value into the ISO window and proceed.
If you're using Expo/Dev, export your film file from the Plotter using the film's rated ISO speed in the Plotter's Data tab. The program will then calculate the appropriate working speeds and compile them into the EFS/G chart. That chart information goes into the Expo/Dev and it "reads" it to calculate the appropriate working speed for the SBR.
You can't enter a film speed directly into the Palm (or iPaq); it's included in the Plotter file so if you want to change it you have to open the Plotter file, edit the Data tab and re-export the file to Expo/Dev. |
