As I see the "issue", metering both Hi and Lo with a filter cancels out the filter factor. Metering the Lo with and without the filter gives the needed exposure and maintains shadow detail. Unless the filter is adding 1 stop more in exposure, in which case, you can change shutter speed, the only remaining way to deal with the increased SBR, is by lowering the film speed. This as I see it, dictates a reduction in development because we're now on another curve of higher SBR vs the film curve with no filter. Seems to me that this route is entirely consistant with BTZS film exposure technique. |
