Barry: Take a look at Phil's BTZS bood if you have it, Page 46. Clearly speaks about the issues we are discussing, i.e., the step tablet must be printed using the exact situation that one will be using in the darkroom. That is, contact printing should only use a paper ES determined by contact printing the step wedge. I am beginning to really understand why some of my film curves might be incorrect if Fred used Phil's light source as the determinant for the ES values. I will probably need to go back and do my own ES for the papers I will be using, currently in the main, Azo type paper ( Lodima ), and Amidol.
