Hi, I carried out my densitometer readings of my film tests. This is my first use of a densitometer, and using it to read densities of film. I followed Phil's instructions in his book, by placing a piece of black tape on the negative. I have the 4x5 Stoufer step tablet, so I did not need to use the brown paper mask. I placed the black tape on the negative itself to one side, and zeroed the densitometer on it. Taking the density readings, i notice that ,even after zeroing the readings on the black tape, I still get negative readings on the least dense steps. Is this normal, and do I enter these negative values into the curve values?
