I had dreams of a "one enlarger darkroom" but settled on a condenser D2 with an old RH design timer dedicated to film testing. The RH is the most amazingly accurate timer. For printing I use the DeVere 504 so my darkroom bench is a bit crowded.
I was cleaning up in the darkroom today -- the only place that is cool at present -- and found an old Velox digital timer from the early 80's ?. I put two sheet of film through using the two timers, the RH and the Velox with the same enlarger and plotted the sheets and they sat exactly on top of each other. Now I have two super accurate timers in the .5 sec range.
The flash system sounds very acheivable. You could probably get an old hammerhead that has adjustable power. My Sunpak is adjustable from 1/64 to full power.
The only problem I see is getting the light even and avoiding a hot spot. |
