  We're into subjective terms again and I don't know exactly what  you mean by them. In general, though, expanded segments in the Matcher display indicate  locally high contrast; compressed segments mean locally reduced contrast. If by "pasty" middle values you're referring to light,  low contrast tones, they're indicated by a shift of zone V "up" toward white, and reduced local contrast.
  You'll have to make the connection between the Matcher displays and the "look" of the print yourself by printing and comparing.   |
