they are all starting points only. It would be very lucky if any will be perfect. Choose one method of getting a reading any way you can comfortably a 4 ev try one sheet of 100 asa film Ilford,acros or tmax using d76 1:1 or ddx 1:6 expose and process for 4 mins if the max density is pretty close to 0.86 when you read the processed step tab go ahead and do the 3 or 5 sheet test. What ever method you used to get 4 ev its imperative that you can repeatit. At that point you may have to fine tune according to the 2.4 aim point. remember Everyone has differing needs for their negatives. The Alternative process people using UV actually aim at 2.5 to push shadows up on to a more comfortable position on the curve. I will tell you from experience, if you spend the effort to get you personal speed point nailed down, life gets real good real fast. Be consistent, be careful and precise, use fresh developer and you'll have a base to evaluate any film developer combo out there with convidence and more efficiently than you can imagin.
