Quantity of light to expose the film |

Hello,
How much EV from the enlarger do I need to do the testing of a 100 ISO film ?
I have read in an recent article by Jorge Gasteazoro that we need 4 EVs of light from the enlarger to expose a 100 ISO film. I made an incident measurement under the light of my enlarger (Durst L1200 with a color head) with the dome diffuser on my lightmeter. I can not get so much light even at 5.6 ! For 100 ISO I only get 2 - 3 EVs at the most. Is there anything wrong in my procedure ?
Another point: if I use my enlarger for projection of a 4x5 step tablet on a 4x5 film sheet I go much beyond the 1:1 ratio. At the minimum height of the enlarger head I cover an 8 x 10 inch. Is exposure by contact not a better way for this purpose ?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Philippe
