Recent Data - Roll Film
Michael Carboy  22:30 20 Apr 03
Greetings All!

I wanted to share with you some recent test data ... I am always tinkering, using BTZS info for guidance when developing roll film...to the extent any of you do similar "non sheet" applications, please feel free to drop me a note if you want further details...Also, now that Kodak has purged the channel and all the "new" T-Max emulsions are out in roll and sheet format, I have been trying to get recalibrated.. Overall, I have found the new T-Max emulsions to be a tiny bit faster (perhaps less than a 1/3 stop faster).. and that to achieve the same high SBR's on TMY400, you need to INCREASE developer dilution by 15%-20%.. at least so I have experienced...

All roll film (35mm and 120) processing is done in a JOBO processor at 70F. I stick to DDX as my primary developer. My paper ES is set to 1.00

KODAK "NEW" T-MAX 400 emulsion (120 film)
DDX 1:9 at 70 in JOBO

4M, EFS 320, Gbar 0.26, SBR 12.1
5.5M EFS 400--, Gbar 0.34, SBR 9.4
8.5M EFS 400-, Gbar 0.45, SBR 7.1
11M EFS 400-, Gbar 0.50, SBR 6.4
16M EFS 400, Gbar 0.76, SBR 4.1

(The test data I have for the 4x5 "new" TMY is odd so I am redoing the tests)

Ilford Delta 3200 (120 film)
DDX 1:9 (DIFFERENT THAN 35mm), 70F in JOBO
4M, EFS 640++, Gbar N/A, SBR N/A
5.5M EFS 800-, Gbar 0.29, SBR 11.5
8M EFS 1000-, Gbar 0.36, SBR 9.1
11M EFS 1000++, Gbar 0.42, SBR 8.0
16M EFS 1250-, Gbar 0.52, SBR 6.5

Ilford Delta 3200 (35mm film)
DDX 1:8 (DIFFERENT THAN 120 FILM), 70F in JOBO
4M, EFS 1000--, Gbar 0.23, SBR 14.5
5.5M EFS 1000, Gbar 0.27, SBR 12.4
8M EFS 1250-, Gbar 0.36, SBR 9.4
11M EFS 1250-, Gbar 0.43, SBR 7.8
16M EFS 1250, Gbar 0.51, SBR 6.6

KODAK "NEW" TMZ-3200 (35mm film)
DDX 1:8 (DIFFERENT THAN 120 FILM), 70F in JOBO
4M, EFS 1250++, Gbar N/A, SBR N/A
5.5M EFS 1600--, Gbar 0.29, SBR 11.5
8M EFS 2000--, Gbar 0.38, SBR 8.7
11M EFS 2000--, Gbar 0.47, SBR 7.1
16M EFS 2500, Gbar 0.53, SBR 6.3
