Hi Lance,

I'm new to BTZS, and previously used the Zone System. I finally decided to give BTZS a try when I became incredibly frustrated with the quality of my negatives produced using the Zone System. I decided to let go of the Zone System, called Fred Newman at the View Camera Store, and simply trusted the advice and direction he gave me. My first field tests following my film and paper testing, were so satisfying to develop and print. Those initial field test negatives contained none of the problems I'd previously encountered when using the Zone System. BTZS for me, has made the process of making a photograph more enjoyable. Metering is simple and straightforward using an incident meter, and in my experience has been a more reliable method for me over a spot meter. I still have my spot meter, but haven't picked it up since moving to BTZS and incident metering. I simply take two meter readings and input those numbers into my Palm Exp/dev. With those numbers in place, the BTZS software provides me with my exposure and development information. BTZS is simply brilliant, and I can't thank Fred enough for the help and guidance he gave me during my transition to BTZS. I wish I'd made the switch to BTZS years ago.
