 Those  numbers refeer to the ES  of the paper you plan to print on. The central number is best for  "normal" silver papers; use the 0.8 marker for high contrast papers (ES=0.6 to 0.9), and the 1.4 marker for low contrast papers (grade 1 and lower silver papers, pllatinum, etc.).
