I realise I'm answering my own query but on further reading of the BTZS edition 4, I have solved my contrast dilema by slightly increasing my paper value to 1.06.
Also using a piece of black card allowed me to visually see the relationship of shadow and exposure and I was able to see I was over enthusiastic in my placement of the meter too far back in the shadow area.
Slight fine tuning is all it has taken.
Undoubtably I will have more questions as I continue but everything seems to respond in a logical manner. |
