yes to smoothing little bumps on the curves. I'm not sure you really have a problem. Using the sensitometer to compare is ok but Not sure if the results will be much different. Make sure you download your results to a pda and go out and do some "real" photography with those data so you can get a true overall understanding about what's going on in your process. As I have seen Phil write "trust your materials and results..."
