Phil,
It wasn't a dilution mistake. The mistake had to do with using the 45A. It turns out that for doing color separations precision was great but the range in which the exposures were occuring was also quite limited(more like copy work). Something about how the multiple stobes were interacting with the film seemed to affect the dev/expo interaction in a way too complexed for me to ferret out now. I think reciprosity affects(which I am just beginning to study)is the root issue. Anyway, I designed an exposure aparatus for my test complete with line voltage stabilization with the help of the pres. of a local aluminum fab company who owned me a favor. I call it "the tower of power". I did the calibration test again with DDX and TMAX100. That went very well. I then did a 5 film test with XTOL 1+1 with TMAX100. By my test the effective film speed using XTOL was a bit lower. I did a field test with TMAX 100 in XTOL 1+1 using my derived data vs the one I loaded from the film library. I was quite pleased with the results of both but it appears that my calibrated data are signifigantly more accurate for my circumstances. Now all I have to do is learn how to print these beautiful negatives with the same clearity of expression (smile). One question, should the ISO of an ideal film/developer combo have the EFS equal to the published ISO of the film @ SBR of 7 ?
