weird film test results at 16 min

I did a film test yesterday with hp5+ and DDX 1:8. I have six tubes so I used six sheets of film, and developed one each at 4, 5.5, 8, and 11. I developed two sheets at 16 minutes. You would think that the two sixteen minute sheets would be close in density, but not so. At tbe dense end of the scale, they differ by about 0.15. For example, at step 1, one measures 2.15 and the other 2.30. Step 2: 2.04 and 2.18. How does this happen? Yes, I removed one tube from the tempering bath a few seconds earlier than the other, but could a few seconds make such a difference? Should I do the test over or just average the numbers?
