I have since writing this information to this list printed D76 and PMK negatives and cannot see any major differences. To me any differences are subtle. And to others the subtle differences may be everything in the way they percieved the image. People have indicated they believe Pyro handles highlights better than conventional developers but perhaps the developer exposure controls they are using with the conventional film/developer were not as tight as BTZS. I was a one time hater of D76 but have to admit it is a very good developer when used with BTZS methods. PMK gives a sharp smooth looking image but due to the compensation in the highlights, and I believe that extends down in the midrange tones a fair way because of the proportional staining, the image can lack a bit of "sparkle". I'm using FB multicontrast paper.

It is interesting to note that a couple of images I have shot with my old brass lenses appear to be visually better able to capture the feel of the old optics developed in PMK. Very subjective I realise but it opens the possibility of a developer to use just for those lenses. I'm happy to have PMK in my darkroom as it has a very long shelf life.
