On this list must reside a wealth of working knowledge about our wonderful BTZS.
As the title of this post says -- tricks and tips.
One that is invaluable for me is this.
Place a band of [in Australia we call it masking tape] but any tape you can write on is fine, around each of the developing tubes. Space them so that when they are in order 1 - 5 they move from 1 to 5 up the tubes. Number them with the tube number and write that number in a dark waterproof ink about 3 or 4 times around the band. Repeat this for the remaining tubes. I don't number six as that is the one I use as a spare for agitation.
When I come in from a shoot I write on a sheet of paper 1 to the number of sheets to process up to 5 then allocate increasing development times from tube 1 to whatever number of tubes in the particular development run. Because the tubes are sequential numbered it is very difficult to loose track of the sheet order.
The other item I have found great for BTZS is a talking darkroom timer. I got this from Dick Smith Electronics - it is an international product so I'm certain Radio Shack or similar would have something like it. I set mine to count up from zero and it tells me each minute that the minute has elapsed.
I hope others can share some gems they have discovered over time both in the field and in the darkroom
