flare compensation factors
David Mark  13:46 10 Jan 03
I realize I should perform the flare testing on each of my lenses per BTZS, 4th ed., but, I confess, my enthusiasm for additional testing is at low ebb right now. Could Phil Davis, or anyone else, provide general recommendations that relate recommended flare compensation to SBR? Or is lens flare, even in modern multi-coated lenses, too much a product of the particular design for such an approach?

Also, what is the maximum flare compensation that one would ever employ? What compensation number would one use if, for example, the setting sun actually appeared in the picture?

Thanks for your help.
