Are you taking incident or spot readings? If you are taking incident readings then the 0.95 curve should work for you. If you are using the Expodev program then most likely your exported file is corrupted and you need to reload it with a slightly different name. (it has happened to me)

If you are taking spot readings then most likely you are placing the zones outside of what is possible with your film test. ( I have done it)

If you are doing it by hand then you must be making amistake somewhere.

To be clear, your film tests determine the possible developing combinations for ONE paper ES value. Having 5 different ES values does not help you to understand the system. The idea is to standarize with one paper grade and then test the film for all available SBR ranges that will fit that specific ES value.

The good thing is that we can use the other paper contrast values if we mess up in metering or developing, but the idea is that you zero in on one paper grade only.

For example, with pt/pd I can use a paper "grade" or ES from 0.95 to 1.7. I chose an ES of 1.4 as the middle of the ground value that will give me a lot of leeway on either side for those times I make a mistake.

I am not sure this answer will help you, but I think at the moment you a bit confused on what values to use and how to use them and IMO is time to go back to the basics.
