That's not too surprising. The EFS ratings are strongly affected by relatively minor lumps in the curve toes so a density error of only 0.01 at a critical point in the curve can skew the values significantly. And errors of that magnitude are common; consider that densitometer calibration typically guarantees no better than +/- 0.02 and silver densities can vary enough to add to that error.
You're right, your numbers were unreal but smoothing has made them plausible. One of the reasons we recommend a 5-curve test series is for just this reason; more data points are more likely to result in sensible numbers. |
