I had the occassion last week of getting help from a friend on a photo trip. To make a long story short I was programmed for and thought I was using HP5 but my friend was giving me Delta 400 4X5 cassettes. 8 important exposures with the mix up. In the darkroom I decided to review my exp/dev curves for Delta400 and with the exposure given to the 8 sheets of film and their respective developement recommendations and I didn't like what I saw. Interestingly enough I had curves of delta400 I had made 2 years ago using pmk-pyro and my beseler/minolta 45A used as a filtered densitometer. The curves looked promising. After the standard "log rolling BTZS tubes"pmk-pyro processing....8 good looking negatives and 6 great prints that printed very well on approx. grade 3 paper. I am embarrassed to say that this was the best print outcomes I have had in the last month. Now I have to test to see If I use the exposure program for HP5 while using Delta400 and Pyro processing in BTZS tubes will be my standard until my delta400 is gone.      |
