I don't recommend in-camera testing. There'll be no significant flare effect if you're laying the step tablet on the film surface but that seems to be an unnecessarily complicated way to 'contact print.' There's also likely to be some light fall-off in the corners unless you're extending the bellows well beyond the infinity focus; I think you're more likely to get uniform illumination under the enlarger.

We purposely leave the camera and camera lens out of these tests to eliminate their characteristics as unknown variables. The BTZS tests are intended to test ONLY the film/developer characteristics insofar as that's possible within the limitations of the home darkroom. There are obvious flaws in this method but it's proven to be reliable and objective.

I can't comment usefully on your TMX/TMRS N-numbers because N-numbers don't have any universal meaning. But I can confirm that that combination of materials has rather limited development latitude. My data show the "normal" developing time for a 7-stop range (with DR=1.05) to be about 7 minutes, with a total range (from 4 to 16 mins) of about 5 to 8-1/2 stops (G-bar about 0.4 to about 0.7). I have no idea how these values may relate to your N-numbers.
