BTZS can take you through the process of making a good negative matched to your chosen paper's ES. If everything has worked ideally that negative should yield its best print with that paper, so anything you do to change paper contrast will presumably diminish the image quality (or produce some unusual variation).
Of course things rarely work ideally so Expo/Dev gives you the option of changing the ES value by +/- 0.05 (from 1.12 to 1.22 in your example). This gives you a little wiggle room without affecting the calculations adversely but if you anticipate using a paper whose ES is outside this range it's best to export the film file again, using the new ES value. |
