		| I have Phil to thank for re-awakening my devotion to Ilfotec DD-X. It trully is a great brew and the speed boost it produces is always welcome.
However, I have a question concerning the varying dilution with various emulsions. I know I could do the Fred Picker thing and just try it and see, but hopefully the internet is a successful if lazy way of achieving the same end.

HP5+ is recommended at 1+5. FP4+ and most other films = 1+6 and Tri-X = 1+8. Why is this so? An attempt to get the times in some sort of close ballpark? Or an image formation thing?

I did accidentally put some TMX through at 1+5 instead of 1+6 the other day. Naturally the negs were overcooked because I had kept to the 1+6 time, but they printed reasonably with Grade 0 filtration. Not great but they could be used if necessary.

 Any views gratefully accepted.
