Re: Strange Results for Fomapan 100 in HC110

Sorry this is a late reply, Foma films are very contrasty and will give much lower real speed than box, they are excellent films though. That said personally I have always found HC 110 a poor developer for BTZS film tests. Until I finally understood film developer relationships I had very little appreciation of D76. I use D76 at 1+3 for Foma 200 so I would suggest you try that as a starting point. If you can adjust your dilution [don't go beyond 1+3] to give you a 4 minute test with a gamma of .35 - .42 and you should get a nice film test. With an unknown like Foma I pick just the 4 minute test, run that and see how things are going. With a paper ES and a flare factor of .02 applied in the plotter you will probably get an SBR for the 4 minute test of between 9 and 10. Maybe a little lower or higher but usually around that mark. If your 4 minute test is still too contrasty do the first test at 3 minutes. No shorter and remember to really shake the tube to start the development cycle.
