Hey steve, great hearing your experience with PMK in BTZS tubes. Quite interestingly I had the exact same experience as you with PMK in btzs tubes! My current standard is Tmax 400 in Pyrocat-MC in BTZS tubes because of the wonderful sharpness, and speed this combo has to offer 380@SBR 7. Sandy King wrote an article in the blinkingeye and curiosity got me . I do Ilford 100 and 400(still have some 4x5) in PMK in tubes. You are entirely right there is no problems with these staining developers in btzs tubes. Interesting the curves for 400Tmax in D76 1:1 and Pyrocat-mc read with a blue l.e.d. densitometer are very similar. The prints are signifigantly different in appearence however ! As you infer. the differences are better classified as preferences rather one better than the other. I also agree that with the BTZS way of evaluating film/dev/paper combos you can get alot of info fast, objectively and repeatedly. My only regret is that I didn't learn it 15 years ago! Miles |
