TMY in DD-X is a good combination for low contrast development of contrasty scenes. With dilutions of 1+7 or higher (we've used it successfully up to 1+12) you should be able to handle about anything. For more information than I can give you here, see the "D-max" newsletter (a quarterly published by The View Camera Store) for July 2002, Volume 9, #3. There's an article there on dealing with extremes of contrast and I think it will answer your question.
