Ron, Thanks for your comments on my work. I think making a good negative is an important start in the photographic process. BTZS is a great learning tool to accomplish this. As Ansel said, the negative is the score and the print the performance. No matter how good the negative is, I find that I still enjoy discovering the negatives possiblities in the darkroom. A print may look very acurate right from the start but I like to push things to see how far they will go. I always think it is interesting to show people my work prints. Normally by the 2nd or 3rd print the viewer will say "Oh yes, that is great" and it is fun to see their amazement when you show them the 10th work print that might near the "Fine Print". The comment I usually get is "I didn't know that kind of control was possible". I find the trash can is my most important piece of equipment. Have fun...Jeff |
