Shannon: Why not use a transmission step wedge. These range from .04 to 3.15 or so in .15 increments and can be purchased calibrated. Try Stouffer Grafic Arts- WWW.Stouffer.com. Phone 219-234-5023 You should be able to "calibrate" the total density range.
