Hi Miles,
In space is there really up and down?
I've been spending too much on my favourite past time and have aquired a collection of older optics so now have a series of lenses from 90 to 485mm for my 5x4. I recently purchased a couple of non working wollensak lenses in Alphax shutters and although I have zero shutter mechanic knowledge they are both now fully functional. Those old shutters remind me of an old motor bike or car that you can work on yourself.
I was so pleased with the smooth tonality of the older lenses. I also picked up a Verito, a Petzval and a couple of 1880's or thereabout rapid rectilinears [spelling]. I will send you a couple of images off list.
I also purchased a 1908 Kodak Empire state 5x7 with full extension bed on ebay and have made a reduction back for 5x4. Despite the age of the camera it has quickly taken pride of place as the camera I take everywhere.

Winter has arrived here and thankfully we are having a decent amount of rain. The entire country though is still in the grip of a major drought. One of my friends in California was saying that the snow fall in the Sierra's this year was also quite low so they face a greater fire risk this year.
I hope to get out mid week to shoot some more film. At least I know the negatives will be perfect !!
